Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

Q: How do I know which therapy is right for me?
A: During your initial consultation, we’ll discuss your health history, goals, and concerns to create a personalized plan. Many clients benefit from combining therapies (e.g., acupuncture for pain relief + MLD for inflammation). My years of experience ensures a tailored approach for your needs.

Q: What should I expect during my first session?
A: I’ll start with a thorough intake to understand your health background. Treatment will begin once we’ve aligned on your goals. Wear comfortable clothing and arrive hydrated.

Q: Do you accept insurance?
A: Coverage varies by provider and plan. I provide receipts for you to submit to your insurer. Contact your insurance company to confirm reimbursement for acupuncture, MLD, or massage therapy.

Q: Are there any conditions that prevent me from receiving treatment?
A: Certain contraindications (e.g., acute infections, blood clots, recent surgery) may require modifications. Always disclose your medical history during intake—safety is our priority.

Q: How long are sessions?
A: Sessions range from 30–90 minutes, depending on your treatment plan. I’ll confirm timing when booking.

Acupuncture FAQs

Q: How does acupuncture work?
A: Fine needles stimulate specific points to balance your body’s energy (Qi), reduce pain, and support healing. Modern research shows it regulates nerves, hormones, and blood flow.

Q: Does acupuncture hurt?
A: Most clients feel minimal discomfort—often a slight tingling, warmth or a dull ache. Needles are hair-thin and inserted gently. Relaxation is common during sessions!

Q: What conditions can acupuncture treat?
A: It’s effective for chronic pain, stress, migraines, digestive issues, fertility support, and more. Ask how it can address your specific concerns.

Q: How many sessions will I need?
A: Acute issues may improve in 3–5 sessions. Chronic conditions often require regular visits over weeks/months. We’ll adjust as you progress.

Q: Are there side effects?
A: Rare. Minor bruising or fatigue may occur. Always performed by a licensed professional using sterile, single-use needles.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) FAQs

Q: What is MLD?
A: A gentle, rhythmic massage that stimulates lymph flow to reduce swelling, detoxify, and boost immunity. Ideal post-surgery or chronic inflammation.

Q: How is MLD different from regular massage?
A: It uses lighter pressure focused on lymphatic pathways, not muscles. Perfect for those seeking a relaxing, non-invasive therapy.

Q: Who benefits from MLD?
A: Anyone with swelling, post-op recovery, autoimmune conditions, or frequent illnesses. Also popular for cosmetic detox (e.g., post-facelifts).

Q: How often should I get MLD?
A: For acute issues, 1–2 sessions/week initially. Maintenance varies—we’ll design a plan based on your response.

Q: Can MLD help with weight loss?
A: It reduces water retention and bloating but isn’t a weight-loss solution. Pair it with nutrition and exercise for holistic results.

Sports & Therapeutic Massage FAQs

Q: What’s the difference between sports and therapeutic massage?
A: Sports massage focuses on injury prevention/performance for athletes. Therapeutic massage addresses chronic pain or dysfunction. Both use deep tissue, myofascial release and stretching.

Q: Will deep tissue massage hurt?
A: Pressure is adjusted to your comfort. Communication is key—some soreness is normal, but pain is not.

Q: How often should I get a massage?
A: Athletes may benefit weekly; others every 3–6 weeks. Chronic issues may require more frequent sessions initially.

Q: Can massage help recover from an injury?
A: Yes! It improves circulation, reduces scar tissue, and restores mobility. Combined with acupuncture or MLD, healing is accelerated.

Q: Do I need to undress?
A: Only to the level required for the treatment. Draping ensures privacy—work can be done through clothing from some techniques.
